Not every business application fits neatly inside Microsoft 365 or a public cloud service. A line-of-business database, shared application, secure remote desktop environment, or vendor appliance may still need its own operating system and resources. The question is not whether a server is old-fashioned. The question is who maintains it, how it is protected, and what happens when it fails.

We start with the application requirements, the people who use it, and the amount of downtime the business can tolerate. From there we can size the environment, control access, plan backups, and document the recovery process.

Hosting does not remove the need for ownership

A hosted machine can still become an undocumented single point of failure. We keep track of what the system does, which vendor depends on it, where its data is stored, and who should be contacted during an outage. If a workload would be safer or simpler on a standard cloud platform, we will say so. If it genuinely needs a dedicated environment, we will manage it accordingly.

Plan the exit before it becomes urgent

Every hosted workload eventually changes. The application may be replaced, the vendor may stop supporting a version, or the business may outgrow the original design.
